Vesta, the asteroid, is connected to Hestia, the Hearth Maiden. Hestia is the vestigial priestess who holds the space for divinity no matter how long or far they may seem to be. In the mythology, Hestia refuses matrimony and instead chooses exaltation. Hestia weds herself to the cosmos and cultivates the source of joy. Hestia is connected with fire, but fire is entirely and wholly embodied. She is the paragon of what results from the union of spirit and that matter.
In mythology, Hestia is contrary to Aphrodite's intentions which Hestia finds to be frivolous. There is much more similarity between the two. Venus rules ceremonies as well as purity, and Vesta maintains sanctity by ceaseless reverence. Both ends can suffer, so what if the best of both were to be combined?

This materia's goal is to infuse pleasure into the pursuit of joy. It revives the honeymoon feelings one may feel as they initiate devotion to a new tradition or deity. Vesta's conviction to stay whole provides the means of purity and cleanliness for Venus. Within the devotional practices, each observance and tenants are infused with a tactile intimacy, and it is here joy manifests before the flames of dedication.
The talismans/oil are consecrated with the intention above: a desire to bind oneself to their devotional and purifying practices to experience sensuality and intimacy within those observances. All this leads back to the rediscovery of joy.
